What to Expect For a Maternity Session
When should I schedule my Maternity Session?
I like to photograph my maternity clients sometime between 28 & 34 weeks. I have done maternity shoots as late as 39 weeks. We don't want to do a photo shoot too soon, as your bump needs to show while laying down, as well as standing up.
How long is the session?
As with all of my sessions, you can choose a Mini Session (20 minutes), a Full Session (60 minutes) or multiple sessions. Your session can be done in the studio, or on location, depending on the look that we are going for. Sessions can be as simple or as complex as you would like. On location sessions are typically shot 1 or 2 hours before sunset.
Can I have my children, or the baby's father, in some of the poses?
Absolutely! I encourage making this event a family affair. I love to capture moments with the family. This allows everyone to feel that they are truly part of the pregnancy. There is no extra fee for adding family members.
Do you provide clothing for maternity sessions?
I do provide fabric and maternity dresses. I encourage you to bring 2 or 3 outfit changes. What works best are shirts that are form fitting and show off your belly. Colorful fabrics work well for outdoors.
I also have a slight obsession with maternity gowns, and have many in my studio. You can view the majority of them by checking out the Maternity Gallery, where about 95% of the gowns you see are studio stock.

Depending on the gown that you purchase, we offer a Buy Back Program if you choose not to keep the gown for yourself.
Do you provide hair and/or makeup before my maternity session?
While I don't personally do hair or makeup, I work with an amazing hair and makeup artist. If you are interested, please mention it at the time of your booking and I will be more than happy to pass her information on to you. You can then work with her in setting up a time to be seen before your maternity session.
Other Useful Information
Maternity sessions are by far my most favorite sessions to shoot! I have learned over the years that all Momma's are different, and shaped different. Not all Momma's feel comfortable in their skin during pregnancy. I have the knowledge and the talent to make you look and feel beautiful, no matter your size. Making you feel beautiful is why Maternity Sessions are my favorite. It brings me great joy to see your eyes light up at your beauty when you view your images.
